Tennessee hosted its first home game in Neyland Stadium on Saturday evening, and in turn, the Vols also hosted their first group of prospects for the season. Volquest takes you through an action-packed week 4 of the high school football season and much more in this installment of trail tidbits.

Beasley hauls in touchdown catch in loss to Baylor

Despite a 34-31 loss to Baylor, Tennessee cornerback commitment Kaleb Beasley still had a big night on Friday night, with Tennessee Head Coach Josh Heupel and defensive backs coach Willie Martinez in attendance. Beasley hauled in four passes for 43 yards and a highlight reel touchdown. Beasley also returned to Tennessee on Saturday for the Vols 30-13 win over Austin Peay.

Carter keeps producing electric plays

2024 Tennessee athlete commit Boo Carter has helped Bradley Central earn the No.1 spot in 6A after a 4-0 start to the season. Carter had a 65-yard touchdown catch and a 95-yard punt return touchdown against Walker Valley on Friday night. Carter was in town for Tennessee’s win over Austin Peay as well. He is expected to travel to Colorado this weekend. The news was unveiled via a social media post from a family member. Volquest did confirm this would be an unofficial visit.

Mike Matthews helps Parkview to win over county rival

Five-star Tennessee commit Mike Matthews was key in Parkview’s thriller over North Gwinnett on Friday night. Matthews hauled in 2 of Parkview’s 5 completions for 47 yards, including a late game snag that set them up for the victory. He added 11 total tackles, including one for a loss. Parkview improved to 3-0 on the season.

Tennessee is on the road this week against Florida before returning home against UTSA on the 23rd of September. They will have another crop of recruits in for this game as well.
