2024 Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star running back Jerrick Gibson has cut down his list of offers for the first time, and Texas A&M remains in the mix, along with Michigan, Florida, Arkansas, Georgia, Miami, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio State, Oregon and Tennessee.

Gibson, who ranks as the No. 1 running back in the cycle and the No. 11 prospect regardless of position has yet to visit College Station but that could change in the near future. Of his top twelve, so far, he’s visited Florida, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee and Miami.

The four-star was previously committed to the Gators, but decommitted in the spring, months after Dan Mullen was fired. Still, Florida has had him on campus more than any other program and lead in his recruitment per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, with a 31.8% chance to land his commitment.

Gibson originally hails from the state of Georgia, but began his high school career in Gainesville, just down the street from the University of Florida, thus far there’s a belief the Gators and Bulldogs have an edge over the rest of the field in his recruitment.

Texas, Oklahoma and Alabama are among three others heavily involved as well. The Aggies have some work to do to make up ground, but given the staff’s success recruiting the state of Florida, and the ties to IMG Academy, if Gibson does make a visit to College Station, Texas A&M could rapidly ascend in his recruitment.

Texas A&M currently holds just one commit in the 2024 class in Longview (Tex.) Pine Tree four-star defensive lineman Dealyn Evans.

Scouting Report for Gibson

Highly explosive, twitched up running back prospect. Physically developed and advanced heading into his junior season. Checked in at 5-foot-10.5, 190 pounds with a rocked up build. One of the more explosive 2024 prospects in the combine setting, registering an electronically-timed 4.57 second 40 yard dash, 40.3 inch vertical and 10 foot broad jump.Moves at a different speed than many of his fellow top running backs. Gibson carries that burst and twitch over to the field. Shows the play speed to rip off chunk runs. Also catches the ball fairly well, but can continue to improve in that area.Moderately productive as a sophomore while playing for a team with a losing record. Transferred to IMG Academy prior to his junior season. Older for the cycle, turning 17 years old during his sophomore season. — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power

Gibson ranks as the No. 11 prospect and the No. 1 running back in the country per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The four-star has an On3 NIL Valuation of $126K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
