Texas A&M freshman wide receiver Evan Stewart scored his first touchdown of his college career on Saturday night, for the Aggies’ first touchdown of the night to make it a 14-7 game in the second quarter

Trailing 14-0, with their worst starting field position of the night, a long run by Devon Achane set Texas A&M up in Arkansas territory and on a critical third down, with defenders in his face, Max Johnson found the former five-star who made a great adjustment to come down with the score.

Stewart has now recorded 11 receptions for 115 yards and one touchdown on the season, midway through the second quarter of Texas A&M’s contest with Arkansas. He was suspended for Texas A&M’s win over Miami, along with three under freshmen, for missing curfew.

The freshman ranked as a Five-Star Plus+ prospect and the No. 2 wide receiver in the country, per the On3 Consensus, coming out of Frisco (Tex.) Liberty. In his high school career, Stewart recorded 2,157 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns in his final three seasons. In addition, he won the Texas 5A long jump title as a junior in May 2021 with a 24-6.5, along with silver in the triple jump (48-9). He anchored a gold medal-winning 4×400 relay team and silver medal-winning 4×200 relay as well.

Texas A&M currently trails Arkansas 14-7 with 4:49 left in the second quarter.

Jimbo Fisher confirms four suspended true freshmen will return for Arkansas

Beginning with a loss to Appalachian State and heading into the Miami game, Texas A&M had a rough week under head coach Jimbo Fisher.

Between losing at home, catching some flack on social media for their Midnight Yell tradition, and seeing four players get suspended — the Aggies desperately needed a win on Saturday. They accomplished that goal, kick-starting the season back in a positive direction.

Fisher was able to help his team get the win, even with four key players not seeing the field. All were true freshmen, with Smoke BouieDenver HarrisChris Marshall, and Evan Stewart receiving pregame suspensions. Now, heading into the Arkansas matchup, it appears as if they will be back with the Texas A&M team.

When Fisher was asked if those four players would be available for Texas A&M this Saturday, he kept his answer short and sweet.

“Yes they will,” Fisher said during his Monday press conference.

All four of the players were members of Texas A&M’s historic 2022 recruited class, with three of them being five-star prospects. Bouie was the lowest rated of the bunch, being ranked No. 84 in the country. In total, 19 stars worth of players were suspended for Fisher on Saturday.
