Betting odds released for three Texas football matchups

The last time Alabama lost a home non-conference game was in Nick Saban’s first season in Tuscaloosa, Ala., when ULM upset the Crimson Tide near the end of the 2007 season. If Texas wants to join the Warhawks’ company, it’ll have to overcome what’s currently a near double-digit point spread.

According to lines released by FanDuel Sportsbook, Alabama is a 9.5-point favorite over the Longhorns. Bama and laying the points carries -115 odds, while taking 9.5 with the Longhorns has -105 odds.

A spread for the annual Red River Shootout in Dallas between Texas and Oklahoma was also released. While the line opened at Texas -5.5 when posted publicly to Twitter by the Action Network’s Brett McMurphy, it has since ballooned to Texas -6.5. That bet carries -110 odds, as does Oklahoma +6.5.

The 2023 matchup between Texas and Kansas at Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium received a spread. Texas is currently a 20-point favorite over the Jayhawks. Betting either side of the spread carries -110 odds.

Texas was 2-1 straight up and 3-0 against the spread versus Alabama, Oklahoma, and Kansas in 2022. In Texas’ one-point loss to the Crimson Tide, the Longhorns covered a 21-point spread. The Longhorns easily covered the 7.5 points in the historic 49-0 shellacking of the Sooners. The same held true for when Texas covered nine points in a 55-14 win over Kansas, via data from OddsShark.

Similar to their 8-4 regular season record, the Longhorns were 8-4 against the spread during their 12-game season in 2022. The number prevailed during Texas losses to TCU, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech plus the win over Iowa State.

Texas was a 7.5-point favorite versus TCU, a 6.5-point favorite versus Oklahoma State, a 15.5-point favorite versus Iowa State, and a 7-point favorite versus Texas Tech.

The Longhorns covered double-digit spreads versus ULM (37.5), UTSA (13), and Baylor (10) last year.

Ahead of the Alamo Bowl, the Longhorns were a 3-point favorite versus Washington. Texas fell to 8-5 straight-up and against the spread after losing to the Huskies, 27-20.

According to OddsShark, Steve Sarkisian is an identical 13-12 straight up and against the spread as head coach of the Texas Longhorns.
