Texas opens Big 12 play in Norman, Okla. versus the Oklahoma Sooners on December 31 with tip time and television partners to be announced. The conference home opener is on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 against Kansas State. That game will tip at 8 p.m. and be aired on Longhorn Network.

Beard’s bunch then hits the road for a game versus Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla. on Saturday, January 7. ESPNU will carry that 11 a.m. matchup.

The Horns are then home for a week, hosting TCU on Wednesday, January 11 at 8 p.m. on the ESPN family of networks. Texas Tech then heads to the Moody Center for a 7 p.m. tip on Saturday, January 14 on ESPN.

Two long road trips are on the schedule following a visit from the Red Raiders. The Longhorns head to Ames, Iowa to face Iowa State at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17. The game will be streamed on Big 12 Now, part of ESPN+. Then, Texas goes to Morgantown, W. Va. to face former Longhorn Tre Mitchell and the Mountaineers at 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 21. That game will also be on the ESPN family of networks.

The return matchup with OSU is on Tuesday, January 24. Tip time is 8 p.m. on LHN. Texas will then travel to Tennessee on Saturday, January 28 as part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge to face the Tennessee Volunteers

Two days later on January 30, Texas’ first Big Monday appearance of conference play takes place when the Baylor Bears visit Austin with an 8 p.m. start time on ESPN or ESPN 2.

The Horns then make a Sunflower State swing. Texas plays at Kansas State at 3 p.m. on February 4 on the ESPN family of networks, then takes on defending national champion Kansas in Lawrence, Kan. at 8 p.m. on ESPN on February 6.

West Virginia comes to town on February 11 for an 11 a.m. start on an ESPN channel. Then, Beard goes back to Lubbock once again for a Big Monday, February 13 matchup with the Red Raiders. OU sees Austin on Saturday, February 18 for a 1 p.m. start, then the Cyclones travel south for a Tuesday, February 21 matchup.

That sets up an end of season stretch consisting of a game in Waco versus Baylor on Saturday, February 25, then a trip to Fort Worth to face TCU on Wednesday, March 1. Texas closes the season with Kansas at home on March 4.

The non-conference schedule was previously released. Texas will open the season and the Moody Center with UTEP on November 7, play Houston Christian on November 10, then welcome Gonzaga on November 16 in the marquee non-conference home game.

The 2021-22 season was Beard’s first as head coach of the Longhorns. Texas finished 22-12 (10-8 Big 12), and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to Purdue in the round of 32.
