Texas decided to use its athletes against an overmatched Rice Owls squad and lead their former Southwest Conference foes, 44-0, at halftime from DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

UT’s Bijan Robinson has lead the Longhorns with three first-half touchdowns, including a 62-yard scamper near the end of the second. He has 114 yards rushing and three scores on 11 carries.

Texas gets on the board first with a Bijan Robinson six-yard scoring run. It was a first drive heavy on Robinson (27 yards), and Xavier Worthy (35 yards), including converting a big fourth down.

After a Casey Thompson interception and a Rice missed field goal, Roschon Johnson took a direct snap 72 yards to the house and a 14-0 Longhorns lead, late in the first.

UT’s special teams got involved when Keilan Robinson blocked Rice’s punt out of the end zone for a safety and a 16-0 Texas advantage after the opening quarter.

Bijan Robinson added to the mix with a two-yard touchdown scamper early in the second for a 23-0 UT lead.

Thompson hit Jared Wiley for a 20-yard pitch-and-catch touchdown right before the half, giving UT a 37-0 lead heading into intermission. But a Rice fumble leads to a Thompson to Xavier Worthy touchdown toss and 44-0 advantage.
