Week 2 of the Texas high school football season begins on Thursday, and there are excellent games statewide in the prep ranks. Perennial 6A powerhouse Austin Westlake takes on one of the San Antonio area’s best programs in Converse Judson on Friday. Denton Guyer takes on an Aledo team powered by 2024 Texas commit Jaden Allen on Friday, too.

In East Texas, Tyler High and Tyler Legacy battle for bragging rights on Friday in the Rose Capital of America. Texas commit Jonah Wilson and Spring Dekaney take on Strake Jesuit on Friday in a Houston-area battle. Those are all strong matchups, but none earned the title of Inside Texas’ high school game of the week.

2023 Texas commit Dylan Spencer and the C.E. King Panthers travel from northeast Houston to the DFW Metroplex to take on the Allen Eagles in a non-district matchup on Friday at 7 p.m. in IT’s game of the week.

C.E. King topped Crosby in a 63-7 blowout last week, while Allen looks to avoid an 0-2 start after a 52-14 drubbing at the hands of Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco in the Tom Landry Classic.

C.E. King has two players rated as On3 Consensus three-stars or better in the 2023 class, and one player rated as a three-star prospect by On3 in the 2024 class.

Allen doesn’t have a player rated as a three-star or better in the 2023 On3 Consensus, but the Eagles have two 2024 On3 Consensus four-stars, and one prospect rated as a four-star by On3 in the 2025 class.
