Big week for facilities in Austin

Today, members of the media will be able to get a tour of the brand new Moody Center, the arena set to open this week and act as the new home of Texas Longhorns basketball. Located just south of Mike A. Myers Stadium, the facility will have its first look tour with local media on Monday. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be on Tuesday.

Then, the venue will have a first week packed full of events. John Mayer will open the arena on Wednesday and Thursday. Bon Jovi will play on April 23. Justin Bieber will perform on April 27.

Then, the venue’s grand opening will feature two Texas icons in George Strait and Willie Nelson, along with the Randy Rogers Band.

It’s an exciting time for the University of Texas and Austin communities, and many dignitaries who worked to make the Moody Center a reality will be on hand for the first look tour including Oak View Group owner/CEO Tim Leiweke, UT board of regents chairman Kevin Eltife, UT president Jay Hartzell, UT athletic director Chris Del Conte and The University of Texas’ Minister of Culture, Matthew McConaughey.

Inside Texas will be at the facility and will be posting pictures throughout the day of the exciting new venue.

Spieth makes it back-to-back wins for Longhorns

Jordan Spieth made it back to back weeks with Longhorns as winners on tour, when he topped Patrick Cantlay in a playoff to take home the RBC Heritage at the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head Island, S.C.

Spieth follows up fellow Texas-Ex Scottie Scheffler after his win at The Masters last week. The win is his 13th career victory on tour and first during the 2021-22 PGA Tour season.

He moves up to No. 11 in the FedEx Cup standings.

The win is his first as a father, and his wife Annie and son Sammy appeared with him on the No. 18 green during the trophy presentation.
