Just In Time Evening News: Notes from the Road

Often times when we go watch Texas targets at high schools across the state, we find prospects that are either under the radar, or not on the radar at all. Here’s a few names that could be good to know for the 2021 season and beyond. Enjoy the evening news.

DL Marc Hernandez, LD Bell (Hurst, TX) – 2022:

Seeing the 6-foot-4, 315-pound senior leader in-person and watching him work, two things are apparent; he’s a college-level dude and, man, he’d be a mean offensive tackle.

Either way, Hernandez brings a lot of what you want in a prospect; size, strength, and desire. Monster on the field and in the classroom, Hernandez holds a handful of offers including Texas Southern, Army, Air Force, and Furman. And there’s no way this guy can’t play at a higher level.

Houston, SMU, Tulsa, and Louisiana Tech would be ideal places for the LD Bell stud. Here’s hoping he has the senior season to get their attention.

CB Mario Buford, Desoto (Desoto, TX) – 2024:

At almost 6-foot, 165 pounds, the sophomore corner is definitely one to watch. Tremendous feet and hands, Buford holds five early offers; Oregon, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Illinois, and UCF.

He ran a 23.85 200 and long-jumped 20-4.5 as a freshman last season, and with his brother, Marques, playing at Nebraska, you can see the athletic genes in the family.

He’ll be ready to contribute to Claude Mathis’ defensive secondary in 2021, joining fellow prospects Devyn Bobby (Baylor commit) and Jaden Milliner-Jones.

WR Ladavion “Juice” Butler, Legacy (Tyler, TX) – 2022:

He might be small, but he plays much bigger.

The 5-foot-8, 160-pound wideout with a 4.56 (40) is one of the hardest workers in Joe Willis’ Legacy program. He leads by example on and off the field, and his camp performances this summer were spectacular. He easily gets separation, snags the ball cleanly, and rarely misses a catch.

Known as “juice’ around East Texas, the dynamic playmaker will be a big contributor for the Red Raiders this fall. With some good tape, there’ll be offers.

OL Donovan Jordan, Legacy (Tyler, TX) – 2022:

Another of the underrated offensive lineman in-state for 2022, the 6-foot-3, 280-pounder holds offers from UTEP, New Mexico, and Furman, and hears from Louisiana Tech.

Jordan will be the anchor on an offensive line helping create holes for two of the best tailbacks in Texas; Jamarion Miller (Texas commit) and Bryson Donnell (Texas Tech pledge).

Jordan brings strength, intelligence, and tenacity to the position and could easily suit up at the G5 level next fall.
