Here’s what the players said after the win and first 4-0 start since 2012.
Quinn Ewers, QB
ON THE TEAM’S MINDSET COMING INTO THE GAME:
“I mean we said if we do what we can do then everything else will take care of itself. I’m super proud of the way we entered the game in conference play and a night game. Going in there and doing what we did is pretty big time.”
ON WHAT TEXAS EXPECTED:
“Baylor kind of did what we were expecting. They didn’t do a whole lot of cover three like we were planning for, but they stayed in some quarters and whatnot and they didn’t change up a whole lot, so that was nice.”
ON HIS RECEIVER’S PERFORMANCE:
“It takes a lot off of my plate when those guys are making plays like that.”
ON HIS CAREER LONG 29-YARD TOUCHDOWN RUN:
“It’s all a blur honestly.”
Xavier Worthy, WR
ON SPECIAL TEAMS BLUNDERS:
“It’s going to be crazy on Monday. (Coach) Banks is going to get on us for sure.”
Jaylan Ford, LB
ON THE SUCCESS OF THE DEFENSE IN THE RED ZONE:
“I really just love the mentality for us. It was just not letting anybody in the end zone no matter who it is, and taking pride in that. I think we really showed up big on all three levels from the front to the linebackers, the D-line, the corners, the safeties, everyone. Everyone did their part to make sure they didn’t get any touchdowns and that was really huge for us.
ON PICKING UP THE FIRST CONFERENCE WIN:
“Definitely a sweet taste, especially with it being my last ride in the Big 12, I think just coming in here, and Sark hit on it a little bit, but a lot of the guys in our locker room, last time we came down here we didn’t come out with the same type of victory. So we’re not taking it lightly, we aren’t taking our victories for granted, and I’m really glad we were able to come here and do what we were supposed to do, and just keep building off this.”
