PFF College's highest-graded Texas football players at each position versus Iowa State

No. 20 Texas made big plays on both sides of the ball during the Longhorns’ 24-21 victory over Iowa State on Saturday. Here are some of the notable and highest-graded players from Texas’ win over the Cyclones at Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium via PFF.

OFFENSE

QB – Quinn Ewers, 75.7

Ewers wasn’t spectacular compared to last week, but was efficient and graded well. He was 17-of-26 for 176 yards and three touchdowns. Most importantly, he had zero turnovers. Winning football.

RB – Roschon Johnson, 75.9; Bijan Robinson, 84.7

The dynamic duo continues to pace the Longhorns rushing attack. Robinson (49 snaps) tallied 171 total yards (135 rushing) on 32 touches, with 4.8 yards per carry. Johnson (30 snaps) gobbled up 71 yards on the ground on 11 carries, for a superb 6.5 yards per touch. They accounted for 72 of the 75 yards on the final UT scoring drive. Leaders.

WR – Xavier Worthy, 77.7Jordan Whittington68.4

Even with Whittington (68 snaps) finding the end zone for the first time in 2022, it was the Xavier Worthy Show. The X-man snagged 72 yards and two touchdowns on seven catches in Texas’ win.

TE – Gunnar Helm, 68.6; Ja’Tavion Sanders73.0

Helm (15 snaps) led the tight ends in overall grade, but Sanders was also productive. JTS tallied 36 yards on three catches, and added a 79.5 run-block grade.

OL – Kelvin Banks, 80.8Christian Jones, 73.7

The two Texas tackles continue to set the pace. Again. True freshman Banks (71 snaps) added a team-leading 74.6 run blocking grade, while Cole Hutson (85.7) and Jake Majors (83.3) paced the pass blocking, behind Banks (88).

DEFENSE

DL – Moro Ojomo77.0; T’Vondre Sweat66.9

Ojomo (27 snaps) led all defensive linemen in overall grade while adding 1.5 tackles for loss and one sack, but Sweat (32 snaps), Keondre Coburn, and Byron Murphy remain fresh within the rotation of snaps.

LB – Jaylan Ford, 91.3

Ford (60 snaps) was among the top performers in the nation. He notched eight tackles, one interception, and one forced fumble. Demarvion Overshown (61 snaps) added six tackles and an 82.0 tackling grade.

CB – D’Shawn Jamison, 65.2

Jamison (64 snaps) was the highest graded corner and owned the most snaps. When Ryan Watts (seven tackles, 20 snaps) went out, the true freshmen duo of Terrance Brooks (24 snaps) and Austin Jordan (16 snaps) tallied 40 snaps together and a 74.2 grade in run support.

S/nickel – Anthony Cook, 77.2; Jahdae Barron75.4

Cook (41 snaps) made the game’s biggest play at its biggest time, forcing a fumble by Iowa State quarterback Hunter Dekkers. Cook also led the Texas defense in run defense with a 90.6 grade. Barron added a 75.4 overall grade playing Star and cornerback on Saturday.
