Inside Texas takes a closer look at the grades for the offense and defense of the Longhorns after their 38-27 win over Baylor in the regular season finale from Austin on Friday, per PFF.

QB

Quinn Ewers73.2 (64 snaps)

The redshirt freshman signal-caller had a day of ups and downs. With the offense simplified, Ewers was a steady 12 of 16 passing, with 194 yards and one rushing score. His development over the off-season will be vital to Texas’ success in 2023.

RB

Bijan Robinson, 84.6 (46 snaps); Roschon Johnson80.3 (23 snaps)

When the Longhorns needed the dynamic duo most, Robinson and Johnson held it down in the fourth quarter to put the visiting Bears away. Bijan tallied 179 yards rushing and two scores on 29 touches, while Roschon added 77 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries.

WR

Xavier Worthy, 70.6 (54 snaps)

With so much attention to the running game, the passing targets were in short supply on Saturday. Still Worthy finished with 62 yards receiving on seven catches. Jordan Whittington led the receivers in pass-blocking at 89.1% on 60 snaps.

TE

Gunnar Helm54.8 (32 snaps), Ja’Tavion Sanders, 68.3 (58 snaps)

Helm and Sanders had a solid day in the blocking department, with Ja’Tavion notching a 66.3% run-block grade and Gunnar grabbing a 65.1% pass-blocking mark.

OL

Christian Jones, 72.7 (64 snaps); Devon Campbell, 69.0 (44 snaps)

The Texas offensive line continued to pave the way for the Horns rushing attack. Jones added a 70.8% run-blocking grade, while Kelvin Banks led the team in pass-blocking at 77% on 64 snaps.

DL

Alfred Collins, 65.0 (30 snaps); T’Vondre Sweat, 66.9 (43 snaps); Moro Ojomo, 72.4 (36 snaps)

The Texas defensive front continued its strong play against Baylor on Saturday. Ojomo led the interior defenders with seven tackles, Collins added four tackles, one sack, and one tackle for loss. Sweat’s pass-deflection was more like a blocked shot.

EDGE/LB

Ovie Oghoufu, 62.8 (70 snaps); Barryn Sorrell, 59.7 (56 snaps); DeMarvion Overshown, 74.2 (72 snaps); Jaylan Ford, 84.9 (76 snaps)

The EDGE guys played well, but Ford and Overshown led the way on defense. Ford notched 13 tackles, two tackles for loss, one QB hurry, and one interception, his fourth of the season. Overshown led the team with 14 tackles two tackles for loss, two pass deflections, and one sack in one of his best overall games in Austin.

CB

Ryan Watts61.7 (76 snaps); D’Shawn Jamison, 67.4 (34 snaps)

The senior Jamison led the corners, with Watts playing continuing to play at a high level. Jamison added 67.0% coverage mark, while Watts tallied a 78.3% tackling grade with four tackles.

S/Nickel

Jerrin Thompson, 68.2 (70 snaps); Morice Blackwell, 71.4 (11 snaps)

Thompson led the secondary with nine tackles and an 86.4% tackling grade. Jahdae Barron had the strongest stat line – five tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, and one pass break-up on 76 snaps.
