The 6-foot-7 skilled forward committed to the Texas Longhorns November 5 over Arkansas and UCLA. Holland, the No. 13 overall prospect in the 2023 cycle, had made a number of official and unofficial visits since last spring. That included three visits to Texas since the first weekend in September.

Texas head coach Chris Beard and associate head coach Rodney Terry were the best relationship builders with Holland and family throughout the process. Terry, in particular, did a masterful job of relationship building with Holland’s mother.

Holland on his commitment to Texas

“I chose Texas because I feel it’s the best fit and I can accomplish my goals on and off the court,” Holland told On3 November 5. “The bonus is that it’s home for me. They will be losing a lot of guys so that gives me a bigger opportunity to go there and get done what I need to get done.”

What type of player is Texas getting in Ron Holland, in his own words?

“UT is getting a high level, energetic guy that has winning habits. A great teammate and a great person on and off the court.”

Holland has has a message for Texas fans.

“For my UT fans out there, I’m staying home. Let’s rock out.🤘🏽”

Holland ranks as the No. 4 power forward in the 2023 cycle. Holland averaged 15.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.0 steals per game as a junior. His sophomore season was his breakout season for the Panthers averaging 13.8 points and 10.1 rebounds.

Holland currently is the only member of Texas’ 2023 signing class, though Beard and company have their eyes on other top prospects like A.J. Johnson. Texas currently leads for Johnson according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
