Robinson, a third-year running back from Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic, won the Doak Walker Award on Thursday night. Robinson rushed for 1580 yards and caught 19 passes for 314 yards during the 2022 campaign. He reached fourth on Texas’ all-time rushing leaderboard when he reached 3410 yards during the 38-27 win over the Baylor Bears in the 2022 season finale.

Johnson, a fourth-year player from Port Neches (Texas) Port Neches-Groves, rushed for 2190 yards and 23 touchdowns during his four-year career. A one-time high school quarterback, Johnson switched to running back amid an emergency at the position during the 2019 season. He remained there and became a team leader in his succeeding three-plus years. During the 2022 campaign, he rushed 93 times for 554 yards and five touchdowns, also adding a receiving touchdown to his ledger.

Overshown, a fifth-year player from Arp (Texas), moved from safety to linebacker in the early stages of his Texas career. He earned first-team All-Big 12 honors following the 2022 season after a 12-game campaign where he recorded 96 tackles with 10.0 for loss along with 4.0 sacks.

All three have been leadership figures during Steve Sarkisian’s tenure as head coach of the Texas Longhorns. Robinson and Johnson were leaders on the offensive side of the ball, while Overshown has been a multi-year leadership figure for the Longhorn defense.

In the Longhorns’ upcoming bowl game with the Washington Huskies, Texas will have to look down the depth chart for contributions against the Pac-12 near-power. At running back, Texas will likely look toward Keilan Robinson and Jonathon Brooks for contributions while at linebacker the Longhorns will look toward David Gbenda, Jett Bush, and Morice Blackwell for help at the linebacker position versus the nation’s No. 2 overall offense.
