Well, we are betting that there’s a handful of facts and figures and dates that may have fallen out of your collective memory banks. Hey, that’s easy to understand with all that recruiting news – welcome, Warren Roberson – and basketball overload rolling around in your head while you are deep in preparation for the upcoming college baseball season.

Judging from the response we received on the first three stories in this series, there’s plenty of milestones that might have been forgotten.

The sports information office at every university has the job of keeping up with every bit of minutia surrounding the teams they publicize, and the staff at Texas is one of the best, if not the best, in the nation at the task. There are two pages of “Last Times” in the Longhorns’ football media guide, one for Texas accomplishments and the other for record against Texas.

We’ve picked out five more really tough “last times” and five others that will be easier to answer if you are ever asked in a discussion with friends…or Aggies. This is the fourth in series and concludes our deep dive into the “last times” for Texas football.

And away we go, for the fourth, and final, time.

When was the last time Texas…

Forced five turnovers in a game?

That would be on Sept. 12, 2015, a span of 97 games, when the Longhorns had three interceptions and forced two fumbles in a 42-28 win over Rice in Austin. One of the fumbles was scooped up by freshman linebacker Malik Jefferson and returned 26 yards for a TD.

Committed five turnovers in a game?

That was also in 2015, which was a season of feast or famine for the Longhorns. The dubious mark was established on Nov. 14 when Texas fumbled three times (one of which was returned 42 yards for a touchdown) and quarterback Jerrod Heard suffered two interceptions in a 38-20 loss at West Virginia. It’s been 88 games since.

Had a receiver with 100 or more yards in consecutive games?

While the length is not that long – just 38 games – the fact that it’s been that long in today’s pass-happy college football world is an oddity. Devin Duvernay owns this record and three others concurrently from the 2019 season. He actually was the last Texas player to produce back-to-back games with 100 or more yards and followed that stretch with 100 yards or more in two more games.

Had a rusher with 200 or more yards in consecutive games?

It’s been 77 games since the 2016 season when D’Onta Foreman racked up 250 yards in a 35-34 win over Baylor and then added 341 yards in a 45-37 win at Texas Tech.

Had an opposing player record five or more tackles for a loss in a game?

You have to go back to the 2009 Big 12 Championship game, a span of 164 contests, since Nebraska’s Ndamukong Suh racked up 7 tackles for loss in Texas’s win. Suh also had 4.5 sacks in that game, which is the most recent time an opposing player amassed four or more sacks in a single contest. Suh certainly made himself some money in that game.

The easy ones

Produced more than 600 yards of offense in a game?

That was just 21 games ago when, on Sept. 18, 2021, the Longhorns racked up 639 yards of total offense in a 70-35 win at home over Texas Tech. It was also the most recent time that Texas has scored 70 points in a game.

Had a quarterback pass for six touchdowns in a game?

Casey Thompson threw for six TDs on Nov. 13, 2021 but that didn’t prevent the Longhorns from losing to Kansas 57-56 in overtime in Austin. It’s been a span of 15 games since that occurred and it’s also the most recent time a Texas quarterback has thrown for five touchdowns in a game.

Had a player intercept two passes in the same game?

D’Shawn Jamison snagged two interceptions in the Longhorns’ 42-31 win at West Virginia on Oct. 5, 2019. It’s been 43 games since Jamison’s feat.

Had 100-plus penalty yards in a game?

You only have to go back five games for this one, as Texas racked up 119 yards in penalties in its 41-34 loss at Oklahoma State on Oct. 31, 2022.

Recovered an onside kick?

Maybe this one wasn’t so easy. It’s been 33 games since Malcolm Epps fell on an onside kick on in the Longhorns’ 63-56 overtime win at Texas Tech on Sept. 26, 2020. Epps’ play allowed Sam Ehlinger a final possession in regulation to produce a touchdown pass to Joshua Moore and a tying two-point conversion toss to Brennan Eagles with 40 seconds to play.

Allowed a touchdown on a fumble return?

That has been just one game since Baylor’s Gabe Hall recorded a scoop and 16-yard TD in the Longhorns’ 38-27 win on Nov. 25, 2022.
