Texas lands 2026 four-star CB Hayward Howard Jr.

Texas has been going into Louisiana for talent ever since Steve Sarkisian took over in Austin. They went back on Friday for 2026 New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr four-star CB Hayward Howard Jr and secured his commitment.

The 6-foot-2, 165-pound Pelican State product picked the Longhorns over LSU, Miami, and Florida State among others on the On3Recruits YouTube channel. His unofficial visit to Austin on April 12th really hit.
“It was good, I liked it, and it was a surprise,” Howard Jr told Inside Texas. “They say everything really bigger in Texas. I guess everything really is bigger in Texas. The coaches, coach Orphey, coach Sark, they all stood out. Coach Sark was really chill. They were really cool. They made me feel at home.”
He joins Dia Bell, Chris Stewart, Max Wright, Trott O’Neal, and Nicolas Robertson as Texas commitments in the Class of 2026. He’ll take his official visit to Texas in June.

His father, Hayward Howard, also played college football as a defensive lineman for Ole Miss.
Howard is the No. 372 overall prospect, the No. 35 cornerback, and the No. 11 player in Louisiana in the On3 Industry Ranking. On3 ranks Howard as the No. 37 cornerback and the No. 10 player in Louisiana.
