Texas Longhorns basketball: TCU heads to Austin for a top 25 showdown

The No. 10 ranked Texas Longhorns are back on the court in Big 12 play on Wednesday night playing host to No. 17 TCU.

This is a huge game for the Longhorns (13-2, 2-1) as they look to get their first home win of the conference season. Texas has road wins over Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in Big 12 play and a home loss to No. 11 Kansas State.

The Horned Frogs (13-2, 2-1) have wins over Texas Tech and at Baylor in conference play with a loss at home against No. 25 Iowa State the last time out.

Interim head coach Rodney Terry has coached the Longhorns to six wins in seven games.

How to watch the game

TCU and Texas tipoff at 8 p.m. Central on ESPN2 with Bob Wischusen (play by play) and Chris Spatola (analyst) calling the action.

The game will be played at the Moody Center (10,763) – Austin, Texas

The Longhorns lead the series 115-69. TCU won the last meeting 65-60 March 10, 2022 in Kansas City at the Big 12 Tournament.

The Rodney Terry File

Rodney Terry enters Tuesday with a career record of 169-157. He has been a head coach at the Division I level for ten year prior to joining Chris Beard’s staff in Austin.

Terry built the Fresno State program up in his time in California. The Bulldogs won 20 or more games in four of Terry’s last five seasons. That included three times in post season play. Terry has a 0-1 record in the NCAA Tournament.

The Jamie Dixon File

Jamie Dixon is in his seventh season at TCU and his 27th season as a head coach. At TCU, he is 130-86 with two NCAA tournament appearances.

Prior to TCU, Dixon was head coach at Pittsburgh. He won two Big East titles, one Big East tournament title, and made 11 NCAA tournament appearances. He has a 13-13 record in the NCAA Tournament.
