Notre Dame will face Navy in Dublin, Ireland in 100 days, marking the beginning of the 2023 Football Bowl Subdivision season. To celebrate the milestone, On3 released a list of the top 100 players in college football, put together by director of scouting and rankings Charles Power and college football analyst Clark Brooks.

Texas landed four players on the list, and several individuals who’ll represent 2023 opponents were also included on the 100-man roster.

Two Longhorn wideouts, Xavier Worthy and AD Mitchell, were named to the top-100 list. So too was offensive tackle Kelvin Banks and quarterback Quinn Ewers.

Tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders and linebacker Jaylan Ford were among the notable snubs.

Here’s what Brooks said about the Longhorn wide receiver duo.

“Mitchell has struggled with injuries and consistency, but he’s a big play waiting to happen,” Brooks said. “Let’s remember, he scored a TD in each of Georgia’s last 4 playoff games. Paired opposite Xavier Worthy — one of the true burners in the class — with a strong-armed Quinn Ewers, I love his upside this fall.”

Power said Worthy “showed a ton of promise as a true freshman, but struggled at times last fall and was playing with some injuries.”

Regarding Banks, Brooks offered: “Both Texas’ Kelvin Banks Jr. and LSU’s Will Campbell were thrown into the fire as freshmen, but they more than held their own. Funny enough, both logged almost identical efficiencies, so it really is hard to separate them at this point. Both placed inside the top 35 in pass block efficiency with only one combined pressure allowed between them over their last 4 games.”

Pertaining to Ewers, Power said “it’s a massive year for Quinn Ewers and Steve Sarkisian at Texas. Ewers tailed off in the middle of last season, his first as a college starter. With a revamped receiver room and a full off-season in the program, it’s put up or shut up time in Austin.”

No. 21 – Xavier Worthy

Worthy is a third-year wide receiver who has played in and started 25 games. He followed up a first-team All-Big 12 selection in 2021 with second-team all-conference honors in 2022. In 13 games in 2022, Worthy hauled in 60 catches for 760 yards and nine touchdowns. That came after a 2021 campaign where he caught 62 passes for 981 yards and 12 scores, all records for freshman at Texas. Worthy was ranked as the No. 18 overall prospect in the 2021 class by On3, which garnered him five-star status.

No. 51 – Kelvin Banks Jr.

Banks started 13 games at left tackle during his true freshman season. He earned second-team All-Big 12 honors and was an honorable mention for the conference’s offensive freshman of the year and offensive lineman of the year. ESPN labeled him a true freshman All-American. Pro Football Focus issued Banks a grade of 71.0 during the 2022 season.

No. 75 – Quinn Ewers

Ewers started 10 games for the Longhorns last year and was honorable mention Big 12 newcomer of the year. He was 172-for-296 for 2177 yards and 15 touchdowns along with six interceptions.

No. 86 – AD Mitchell

Mitchell transferred from Georgia following the Bulldogs’ second consecutive national championship. He appeared in 21 games with 15 starts for UGA, and hauled in 38 passes for 560 yards and seven scores during his UGA career. He is known for catching a touchdown pass in all four of Georgia’s College Football Playoff games.
