The 6-foot-6, near 270-pound athletic tackle flipped his commitment from TCU to Texas following a weekend official visit. He has seen Texas’ campus at least four times.

The visit to Texas was the second in two weeks for the Melissa High spring riser. Texas offensive line coach Kyle Flood offered Goosby on an unofficial visit June 10. The flip to the Longhorns came as expected as Goosby has always had Texas as a “dream school.” Goosby also has a number of family members that attended Texas, including his mother.

Goosby’s flip comes a week after making an official visit to TCU, prior to the return trip to Austin.

Goosby initially committed to TCU on April 26 over offers from SMU, UTSA, North Texas and Kansas, as well as interest from Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma.

The rising senior enjoyed a standout junior season helping lead Melissa to an 11-3 record. He was named a first-team all-district selection, as well as receiving all-state honors following the season.

Goosby is the No. 468 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 36 offensive tackle and the No. 79 prospect in Texas.

On3 ranks him as a three-star prospect with an 88 grade. He is the No. 36-ranked offensive tackle and the No. 81 prospect in the state of Texas.

He is also the fifth commitment to Texas on Sunday, June 26 and the sixth of the weekend, joining Jaydon Chatman, Andre Cojoe, Jonah Wilson, Connor Stroh, and Liona Lefau. His announcement comes days after Arch Manning, the No. 1 overall 2023 prospect according to the On3 Consensus, announced his commitment to Texas.

Goosby is the fourteenth member of Texas’ 2023 class, joining Jaydon Chatman, Andre Cojoe, Jonah Wilson, Connor Stroh, Liona Lefau, Arch Manning, Ryan Niblett, Dylan Spencer, Jamel Johnson, Tre Wisner, Will Randle, Spencer Shannon, and S’Maje Burrell.
