Three-star prospect Samuel Omosigho is an athlete in every sense of the word. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder plays both sides of the ball when it comes to football. He also runs track and plays basketball for Crandall (Tex.) High School. On Sunday, Omosigho released his top ten schools. It’s a group that includes perceived leader Oklahoma as well as the USC Trojans.

Auburn, Florida, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, TCU and USC are the 10 schools at the top of the pile for Omosigho.

The new USC staff wasted little time in going after Omosigho. The Trojans began showing significant interest in mid-December and offered in early January. Lincoln Riley, Alex Grinch and Brian Odom offered Omosigho in early November while they were still at Oklahoma.

Omosigho has a strong connection with the new staff at Oklahoma. It’ll be difficult to pry him out of the region. But USC already holds commitments from three Texas prospects in this class and is chasing several more.

Omosigho is likely destined for linebacker at the next level. USC coaches have shown they covet speed at those interior linebacker spots. Class of 2022 signee Garrison Madden is an example of the type of player Odom and the rest of the staff are looking for there.

Like Madden, Omosigho is an outstanding athlete. Playing both ways last season, he was credited with 150 tackles, four sacks, five interceptions and two fumble recovery touchdowns. He also caught 42 passes for 811 yards and seven touchdowns.

He averaged 3.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game for the basketball team. And he participated this spring in the 110 hurdles, discus, high jump, triple jump, 4 X 100m relay and 4 X 400m relay.

USC’s Linebacker Recruiting

USC does not have a linebacker committed in the 2023 class. In fact, only two of USC’s seven verbal commitments are on the defensive side of the ball, in cornerback Braxton Myers and safety Christian Pierce.

The Trojans do have a 2024 linebacker committed, in four-star local standout Dylan Williams.

Madden was the only interior linebacker to join the Trojans out of the high school ranks in the 2022 class. But USC did add a couple of impactful pieces over the offseason. Former Alabama linebacker Shane Lee has two years of eligibility remaining. He joined the program in time to participate in spring practice and was regarded as a key piece. And former Arizona State linebacker Eric Gentry was a major addition via the transfer portal following spring ball. He brings three years of eligibility remaining following a fantastic true freshman season with the Sun Devils.
