Four-star cornerback Curley Reed released his list of top schools and USC is among them. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound cornerback went with a top-12 list for this cut down. The schools include Auburn, Alcorn State, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Oregon, Purdue, TCU, USC and Washington.

Reed is the nation’s No. 134 overall prospect and No. 12 cornerback in the 2023 On3 Consensus. And that’s a strong statement considering he tore his ACL during a fall scrimmage and missed his entire junior season.

The standout defensive back picked up an offer from USC in January and quickly formed a bond with Trojans’ cornerbacks coach Donte Williams.

LSU has a strong lead in the RPM for Reed due to proximity and a couple of unofficial visits from the Lake Charles (La.) College Prep standout.

USC made a run at Reed’s former teammate, class of 2022 running back TreVonte’ Citizen, last year. USC made the top eight programs for citizen, but not the top four. Citizen ultimately surprised many when he signed with Miami. Most believed he was headed to Florida.

USC’s 2023 Cornerback Recruiting

USC’s cornerback recruiting got off to a great start in this class when four-star prospect Braxton Myers announced his commitment to the Trojans a week ago. Seeing local standout Daylen Austin make an early commitment to LSU was a tough blow. But USC coaches will undoubtedly continue to push there. USC also landed in the top group of schools for four-star cornerbacks Micah Tease and Ethan Nation.

The Trojans are also chasing local corner Maliki Crawford. Having Myers in the class is interesting because he’s a prospect who could play cornerback or safety at the next level. USC landed Latrell McCutchin and Jacobe Covington via the transfer portal this offseason. Those two also could play cornerback or safety for the Trojans.

USC landed five-star cornerback Domani Jackson and four-star corner Fabian Ross in the 2022 class. Jackson missed nearly all of his senior season due to a torn ACL. He was slowed to start spring ball but a full participant by the end. Plenty will be expected of him over the next few seasons.

USC’s 2023 Recruiting Class

USC holds the No. 2 recruiting class in the nation for the 2023 cycle.

The Trojans are led by Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Malachi Nelson and five-star wide receiver Zachariah Branch. USC is the only program with multiple five-star commitments to this point.

A trio of four-stars round out the offensive skill commits, in wide receiver Makai Lemon and running backs Quinten Joyner and A’Marion Peterson. Myers is joined by three-star safety Christian Pierce as USC’s two defensive commitments.
