USC coaches continue to do work in the transfer portal this offseason, but the Trojans’ 2023 recruiting class is seeing pieces added as well. One of the things that stands out about this coaching staff is how well they’ve done in keeping USC in the mix for prospects across the country, regardless of where they sit on the board. It allows the Trojans to stay in the conversation throughout the recruiting process when relationships are already built with a solid foundation. Late this week, USC landed on the top lists for three more prospects.

Ethan Nation’s Top Eight

Four-star cornerback Ethan Nation included USC among his top eight schools. The Trojans are joined by Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon and Texas A&M.

Nation is the No. 227 overall prospect in the 2023 On3 Consensus. The 5-foot-11, 162-pound prospect is the No. 24 overall cornerback.

Auburn holds the lead in his RPM, though that’s mainly based on three unofficial visits taken to see the Tigers. There are no predictions submitted yet.

USC’s cornerback recruiting got off to a great start in this class when four-star prospect Braxton Myers announced his commitment to the Trojans earlier this week. Seeing local standout Daylen Austin make an early commitment to LSU was a tough blow. But USC coaches will undoubtedly continue to push there. USC also landed in the top group of schools for four-star cornerback Micah Tease.

Grant Buckey’s Top Ten

There was a very Pac-12 feel to the recent top ten released by three-star defensive lineman Grant Buckey. Eight of the 10 schools are from the conference, which isn’t surprising for the Bakersfield standout.

Arizona, Cal, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Utah and Washington are his 10 schools still standing.

Buckey’s father played at Stanford and his older brother is on the team now, giving the Cardinal an advantage there. But Buckey said previously that he will explore all of his options as he goes through the recruiting process. That included taking an unofficial visit to USC this spring, when he left campus impressed with what he saw.

The 6-foot-5, 265-pound defensive end will take an official visit to USC this summer.

Seven Left for Aidan Mizell

USC’s wide receiver class is off to a tremendous start with commitments from five-star Zachariah Branch and four-star Makai Lemon. The Trojans are likely to take a couple more receivers and have interest from prospects across the country.

One of those is four-star wideout Aidan Mizell. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Florida prospect announced his top seven schools late this week. That group includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, UCF, USC and Tennessee.

Mizell is the No. 103 prospect in the On3 Consensus, but checks in all the way up at No. 50 overall in the 2023 On300 Rankings. He’s also the No. 9 receiver there.

Florida holds a huge lead in the RPM for him, including a prediction to the Gators made in late-April.
