WeAreSC On3 is a daily three-point briefing recapping news and notes surrounding USC Athletics. Today, we take a look at USC Basketball defeating Arizona State on Saturday night, ESPN’s latest NFL Draft grades, and Caleb Williams taking on a NASCAR race.
Basketball Beats ASU
On Saturday night, USC Basketball defeated Arizona State 77-69. It was the Trojans’ sixth consecutive win over the Sun Devils.
USC now sits at 14-6 overall and 6-3 in Pac 12 play. Up next, the Trojans host UCLA in a huge Crosstown Showdown at Galen Center on Thursday night.
ESPN’s Matt Miller recently put out a list of 20 NFL Draft prospects with first-round grades. USC wide receiver Jordan Addison was one of those 20 players.
Addison is looking to make it four consecutive years with a USC offensive player taken in the first-round, and two straight by a wide receiver. (Drake London was the number eight overall pick in last year’s draft.) In addition, if Addison is taken in the draft’s first two rounds, he will be the seventh USC wide receiver to be a first or second-round pick since 2013.)
Caleb Takes NASCAR
In two weeks, the NASCAR Clash at the Coliseum will be returning for the second consecutive year. And a familiar face will be on hand for the event. Yesterday afternoon, it was announced that USC quarterback Caleb Williams will serve as an Honorary Starter for the race.
Williams will be the third USC Heisman Trophy winner to take part in the event in its two-year history. Last year, former Trojan stars Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush served as Grand Marshals for the Clash at the Coliseum.
