WeAreSC On3 is a daily three-point briefing recapping news and notes surrounding USC Athletics. Today, we take a look at former Washington defensive back Jacobe Covington transferring to USC, more info on the Bru McCoy story, and USC offering a class of 2024 recruit.

Jacobe Covington commits

On Sunday, defensive back Jacobe Covington, a transfer from Washington, committed to USC.

Originally a four-star prospect in the class of 2020, Covington saw limited playing time in two seasons at Washington. Stuck behind future NFL cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Kyler Gordon on the depth chart, Covington entered the NCAA Transfer Portal earlier this month. Not long afterwards, he set up an official visit to USC.

Covington will look to compete for playing time in a transfer-heavy USC secondary, including Mekhi Blackmon and Latrell McCutchin.

More info on McCoy

Over the weekend, the Los Angeles Times published an article on recently revealed court documents outlining more info surrounding the suspension of former USC wide receiver Bru McCoy.

The situation is rather complicated, but to summarize: McCoy was arrested on suspicion of felony partner intimate violence with injury. This suspicion stemmed from allegations surrounding a longtime problematic relationship with his ex-girlfriend.

McCoy was suspended from the USC football team as a result of his arrest. However, the wide receiver was never actually charged with a crime.

Earlier this offseason, McCoy left USC and transferred to Tennessee.

New 2024 offer

This morning, USC extended a scholarship offer to class of 2024 athlete David Eziomume.

A four-star recruit out of Kennesaw, Georgia, On3 Consensus currently ranks Eziomume as the number 270 player in the class of 2024. In addition, he is the number 40 player in the state of Georgia and the number 22 athlete in his class.

As of now, Georgia is currently the heavy favorite to land Eziomume. USC is among a large group of other schools trying to gain ground on the Bulldogs, including Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt.
