WeAreSC On3 is a daily three-point briefing recapping news and notes surrounding USC Athletics. Today, we take a look at a big honor for an incoming linebacker, a top basketball signee arrives at USC, and the Trojans grab commitment No. 7 in the 2023 class.

Madden is the Area’s Best

Linebacker Garrison Madden was one of the more interesting additions to USC’s 2022 recruiting class. The new USC coaches did not spray a bunch of offers around when they arrived on campus from Oklahoma. But the 6-foot-2, 200-pound Madden got one and made his way into the class.

Madden played football, basketball and ran track in high school. On Monday, he was named the Henry County Male Athlete of the Year.

Madden visited USC for a spring practice and was able to get an idea of what awaits him. His speed makes him a unique asset at linebacker. The expectation won’t be for him to play right away. But with roster spots such a valuable commodity to a coaching staff looking to win now, it’s a statement that head coach Lincoln Riley and inside linebacker coach Brian Odom brought him in with the 2022 group.

The Newest Trojan Big Man Has Arrived

USC Hoops found great success with some top-ranked big men over the past few years. Five-stars Onyeka Okongwu and Evan Mobley certainly lived up to their billing.

Next up is four-star big man Vince Iwuchukwu, who arrived on campus Monday. The 7-footer comes in as the nation’s No. 6 center and No. 33 overall recruit. This incoming USC class has three top-50 prospects in it and how quickly Iwuchukwu can make an impact in the middle could be one of the keys to how successful this season is for the Trojans.

Myers Makes Seven for the Trojans

Lucky No. 7 is on board for USC’s 2023 recruiting class as four-star defensive back Braxton Myers announced his commitment to the Trojans on Monday afternoon.

He’s the second defensive prospect to join the class and becomes the Trojans’ fourth-ranked recruit.
