A daily three-point briefing recapping the news and notes of the past 24 hours. Today it’s news on a future USC quarterback, Trojans in the NFL and a top list for a top linebacker prospect.

Devin Brown commits to All-Star Game

USC 2022 quarterback commit Devin Brown has seen his stock rise greatly since pledging to the Trojans. He’s now the No. 78 prospect and No. 6 quarterback in the country according to the On3 recruiting rankings.

On Thursday, Brown added another honor. He was invited to participate in the All-American Bowl and took little time in making a commitment.

Brown is off to an incredible start to his senior season. Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon is 4-0 and the Chargers have scored at least 35 points in all four games. Brown has completed 71% of his passes for 1,405 yards and 19 touchdowns against five interceptions.

Trojans in the NFL

The NFL kicked off the 2021 season Thursday night with a game between the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Dallas Cowboys. That meant watching former USC running back Ronald Jones II for the Bucs and former USC offensive lineman Tyron Smith for the ‘Boys.

USC makes Top 7 for LB target

Five-star linebacker Harold Perkins (Cypress, Tex./Cy Park) announced his top seven schools yesterday, with USC making the cut.

Alabama, Florida, LSU, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M and USC are still involved with the five-star linebacker and nation’s No. 8 overall prospect. Texas A&M is the team to beat here. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Perkins has discussed a trip to USC in the past. The Trojans are all in on local outside linebacker David Bailey (Santa Ana, Calif./Mater Dei), but Perkins is clearly still on the radar as well.
