A daily three-point briefing recapping the news and notes of USC athletics. Today it’s a look back at USC’s win at Washington State, a new running back offer, and more quarterback intrigue.

Rewatching the win

USC’s production of the win against Washington State win is another fun one, with big plays and a starring role for quarterback Jaxson Dart.

A new running back offer

USC will lose Vavae Malepeai after this season and the status of Kenan Christon is very much up in the air right now. Landing at least two running backs between now and the 2022 season is a must for the USC offense. The Trojans lost a commitment from running back DeAnthony Gatson (Newton, Tex./Newton), but added running back Jaydn Ott (Norco, Calif./Norco) to the target list. USC offered Ott on Tuesday.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound back brings speed and elusiveness to the position. he’s having a big senior season, with 50 carries for 560 yards and eight touchdowns in just four games. Ott was previously committed to Oregon and Cal, decommitting from the Golden Bears just a week ago.

QB Questions

Kedon Slovis was back on the practice field Tuesday. He was a full participant and showed no ill effects of the neck injury that knocked him out of the game against Washington State.

Jaxson Dart, however, was not in attendance. Head coach Donte Williams and offensive coordinator Graham Harrell weren’t looking to get into specifics after practice about Dart’s injury or a timeframe for his return.

True freshman quarterback Miller Moss took all of the second-team reps behind Slovis. If Dart is unable to practice this week or play on Saturday as he deals with a knee injury, Slovis will be the unquestioned starter against Oregon State and the Trojans will have to figure out what their options are for a No. 3 quarterback.
