Gus Malzahn may soon add a former five-star playmaker from the transfer portal.

UCF has emerged as a potential landing spot for Florida running back transfer Demarkcus Bowman, sources tell On3.

Bowman, a Class of 2020 five-star recruit, spent last season with the Gators after beginning his college career at Clemson. He re-entered the portal last week.

Bowman, whom Clemson coach Dabo Swinney once compared to former Tigers star C.J. Spiller, ran for 81 yards on 14 carries for Florida last season after rushing for 32 yards on nine attempts at Clemson in 2020 prior to entering the transfer portal.

The Lakeland, Fla. native was rated as the third-best running back and 23rd-best overall prospect in the 2020 recruiting class according to the On3 Consensus Rankings.

Unless he receives a waiver from the NCAA, Bowman will have to sit out this season.
