The transfer portal decision is in for former Oklahoma guard Umoja “Mo” Gibson. He’s heading to the Windy City.

Gibson took to Twitter Wednesday night to announce he’s heading to DePaul as a graduate transfer. He spent the last two years with the Sooners after starting his college career with North Texas.

After a down year in 2020-21, Gibson bounced back in 2021-22 under Porter Moser. He averaged 13.3 points per game on 43.5% shooting, including a 39% clip from downtown. He also averaged 1.3 steals per game, which ranked fifth on the Oklahoma roster.

At North Texas, he made an instant impact as a freshman. The Waco, Texas, native earned Conference USA All-Freshman team honors in 2018 after drilling a record 99 three-pointers for the Mean Green. He didn’t have a rating out of high school, but worked his way to a four-star player, according to his On3 College Rating.

Now, Gibson is joining a DePaul roster that’s gearing up for year two of the Tony Stubblefield era. Stubblefield took over last season after 11 years with Oregon as an assistant, and amassed a 15-16 overall record in his first season with DePaul, including a 6-14 mark in Big East action. Gibson will help replace the departed Javon Freeman-Liberty, who entered the 2022 NBA Draft and told CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein he’s “100% staying in” the process, meaning he won’t return to Lincoln Park this coming season.

Gibson is the second former Sooner to announce his transfer portal decision. Alston Martin entered the portal earlier this offseason and committed to Missouri State last month. He played in 6.2 minutes per game over 18 appearances for Oklahoma last year, but will take his conferences to the Missouri Valley Conference under Dana Ford.
