Ranking the top players that entered the transfer portal on Monday

The floodgates opened. Monday was the first day players were able to enter the transfer portal without penalty. As of 9:45 PM EST, over 180 players have submitted their names to the portal. The transfer portal opened on Monday and will remain open for 60 days to be able to enter non-graduate, one-time transfers without penalty.

Graduate transfers have been able to enter the portal without penalty as soon as their season ends. Just over 100 players entered the last week.

To help navigate things some, here are the top players that entered the transfer portal on Monday, March 13.

1. JJ Starling (Notre Dame)

Height/weight: 6-4/200
Year: Freshman
High school: La Porte (IN) LaLumiere

2022-23 stats: 11.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 42.1% FG.

Notes: JJ Starling is originally from Baldwinsville, New York, and played travel ball with the City Rocks program on Nike’s EYBL Circuit. Starling’s final group of schools included Syracuse, Duke, Stanford, and Northwestern prior to choosing Notre Dame. Starling ranked No. 18 in the 2022 On3 Industry Ranking.

2. Skyy Clark (Illinois)

High school: Montverde (FL) Montverde Academy

2022-23 stats: 7.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 12 starts.

Notes: Skyy Clark is originally from Los Angeles, California, and played travel ball with the MoKan program on Nike’s EYBL Circuit. Clark originally committed to Kentucky prior to flipping to Illinois in April. He started 12 of the 13 games he played in before announcing he would leave the school in January.

3. Eddie Lampkin (TCU)

High school: Katy (TX) Morton Ranch

2022-23 stats: 6.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 54.7% FG, 19 starts

Notes: Eddie Lampkin is originally from Katy, Texas, and played travel ball for the Houston Defenders on the UAA Next Circuit. Lampkin chose TCU over a final group that also included Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Western Kentucky. Lampkin started 19 of the 23 games he played this season.

4. Tyler Nickel (UNC)

Notes: Tyler Nickel is originally from Harrisonburg, Virginia, and played travel ball with the Team Loaded program on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit. He originally chose UNC in a close battle with Virginia Tech. Nickel is the Virginia High School League’s all-time leading scorer. Nickel was the No. 84 player in the 2022 On3 Industry Rankings.

5. Mike Mitchell (Pepperdine)

2022-23 stats: 11.4 points. 4.1 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.0 steals, 44.0% 3P

News: Mike Mitchell is from San Jose, California. The 6-foot-2 guard was a 2021-22 WCC All-Freshman and, in his two seasons on campus, has averaged 4.9 assists while shooting 42.2 percent from three on 4.9 attempts per game.

6. Jaden Henley (Minnesota)

News: Jaden Henley is originally from Ontario, California, and played travel ball with the independent Inland Empire program. Henley started the last nine games of the season for Minnesota, where the averaged 9.7 points and was 6-of-8 from three in his final six. Henley originally chose the Gophers over San Diego State.

7. Jace Carter (Illinois-Chicago)

9. Dom Campbell (Notre Dame)

Notes: Dom Campbell is originally from Scarborough, Massachusetts, and played travel ball with the Middlesex Magic program. The 6-foot-9 power forward committed to Notre Dame of offers that included Oklahoma, Tennessee, Illinois, and Stanford. Campbell was the No. 128 player in the 2022 On3 Industry Ranking.

10. Robert Jennings (Texas Tech)
