Kadin Shedrick, a forward who just wrapped up his redshirt junior season at Virginia, has been highly sought after since entering the transfer portal. With his process continuing, he has now made a significant cut to his list as he has narrowed his options to five schools.

This news comes via Joe Tipton of On3. After updating some news of Shedrick’s upcoming visits, he then added the list of schools that Shedrick is still considering. That includes Duke, Texas, Missouri, Kansas State, and Xavier.

From what he told Tipton, he has two visits planned as of now. He is first going to Austin to meet with the Longhorns on April 18th. He will then arrive Columbia to check in with the Tigers the day after.

Per Tipton, Shedrick has already completed a visit to Duke during this weekend.

Shedrick posted decent numbers in his limited role while at Virginia. His career averages sit at six points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game on 63.4% shooting from the field. However, that came in just 17.6 minutes per game over his three seasons in Charlottesville. That suggests he could take it up a notch if given a larger role at a new home.

On3’s 2023 Top Portal Player Rankings have Shedrick rated as a Top-35 player. He’s also a Top-10 center as the No. 7 big man in the transfer portal. Per predictions, there’s a 37.5% chance he ends up in Durham at the moment. After that, there’s a 32.8% chance he end up with Dennis Gates’ squad.

We’re still several days away from these visits which, in turn, likely means we’re still a bit out when it comes to Shedrick’s decision. Still, it appears things are trending closer to a choice now that visits are on the docket and his options are cut down to just five.

Virginia forward Armaan Franklin has declared for the 2023 NBA Draft, he announced with a graphic posted to his Twitter account on Friday night.

Franklin led Virginia in scoring, averaging 12.4 points per game as he paced the Hoos most of the year. He also logged 4.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while soaking up 29.3 minutes per contest.

“I was blessed to be a part of the UVA brotherhood which I am forever grateful for,” Franklin wrote. “To my teammates and coaches thank you for pushing me every day to be the best version of myself! To all the fans that filled up John Paul Jones Arena thank you for taking in a kid from Indiana & treating him like your own.

“Charlottesville will always hold a special place in my heart. After a lot of conversations with my family & coaches I have decided to declare for the 2023 NBA Draft.”

Franklin was a senior in 2022-23 but could have stayed another year using the free year of eligibility granted to athletes who were impacted by COVID-19.
