Former Houston WR Mikal Harrison-Pilot commits to Texas Tech

Former Houston wide receiver Mikal Harrison-Pilot committed to Texas Tech, according to a post on his Twitter account.

Harrison-Pilot played four games this past season, but preserved his redshirt. He did not record any stats and played 12 of his 14 snaps on special teams.

As a member of the Class of 2023, Harrison-Pilot was a four-star recruit out of Temple (Texas) High, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 33 overall prospect in the state, the No. 26 wide receiver in the class and the No. 191 overall prospect in the class.

Harrison-Pilot was an exciting high school prospect. His scouting report via On3 is listed below:

“Do-it-all player that has played quarterback, running back, wide receiver and safety over his three seasons at Temple High School,” the report read. “Measured around 5-foot-11.5, 185 pounds with a 6-foot-4 wing-span prior to his senior season. A three-sport athlete who plays baseball and also ran 11.02 in the 100 meters and 21.63 in the 200 meters in 2021. Fluidity and smoothness in his movements pops off the tape. An easy mover with looseness in his hips. Has solid ball skills as a pass catcher and flashes the ability to high point the football.

“Shows his physicality when coming downhill in the run game and as a ball carrier. Needs to develop his footwork and hand placement in coverage. Has all the physical tools to play offense or defense at the next level but will need to refine his technical skills once he lands on either side of the ball.”
