Personal Life
Isaiah Evans put his name in the North Carolina history books during his junior season. In a 105-92 Huntersville North Mecklenburg win over Chambers in the fourth round of the 4A North Carolina playoffs, Evans scored 62 points – including an off-balance, buzzer-beating three-pointer in the first overtime to force a second overtime. The 62 points rank No. 6 all-time in the NCHSAA record book for points in a game. He passed Chris Paul's 61-point performance for West Forsyth in 2002. The state record of 67 points is held by Clayton's Bob Poole, set in 1950 in an 88-27 win over Corinth Holders. In addition to Chris Paul, according to the NCHSAA record book, Evans is now ahead of single-game performances by players like JamesOn Curry, John Lucas, Donald Williams, Phil Ford, and LeVelle Moton. He averaged 43.8 points in the state playoffs as a junior. During the summer before his junior season, Evans averaged 9.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals for the TSF program on Nike’s 16U EYBL Circuit. “My handles have gotten a lot tighter,” Evans told On3’s Jamie Shaw. “I’m able to get to the basket a lot more, finish with more layups and dunks off the bounce.”
