Report: North Carolina, Florida, Oklahoma and Michigan headline 2024 Jumpman Invitational field

The 2024 Jumpman Invitational has an official field and schedule, according to college basketball reporter Rocco Miller. He tweeted out Monday morning the following participants and days for the event at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC.

Tuesday Dec. 17

Women’s: Oklahoma vs. Michigan
Men’s: Florida vs. North Carolina

Wednesday Dec. 18

Women’s: North Carolina vs. Florida
Men’s: Michigan vs. Oklahoma

So, fans of these teams will get to see both of their respective clubs play on the men’s and women’s sides and against the same opponent, too. You’ll save a men’s or women’s matchup the first day with the same matchup of the other on the next day to make for a nice little mid-week event in Charlotte.

Last year’s event was much of the same but with different matchups. Oklahoma faced North Carolina in both men’s and women’s while Florida and Michigan squared off. Of course, in the first year of this foursome back in 2022, North Carolina faced Michigan while Oklahoma’s teams played Florida’s.

With the 2024 matchups in place, these four schools will complete their three-year round robin against the other three foes in both men’s and women’s. Will we see the same teams restart the rotation in the 2025 Jumpman Invitational? Or perhaps it’s time to mix up the field a bit with a new foursome.

Background on Jumpman Invitational

Here is a sort of mission statement for the event, as posted on the Jumpman webpage:

“At the intersection of culture, entertainment and hoops is college basketball’s newest competition — the Jumpman Invitational presented by Novant Health. The latest jewel in the Queen City’s sporting crown will feature play between four of the original Jordan Brand-sponsored programs — uniquely showcasing both men’s and women’s teams — while also celebrating basketball culture like only the Jordan Brand can, bringing the energy to Charlotte. Be ready to witness the evolution of college basketball this December during the third annual Jumpman Invitational presented by Novant Health.”

It continued:

“From day one, we believed the Jumpman Invitational should not just be about two days of impact on the Charlotte region. From operating community health clinics, to refurbishing public spaces, to starting an apparel design program for local youth, our partners Novant Health, Lowe’s and Truist have been remarkable in their commitment to the Queen City.”

This year’s Jumpman should be another rollicking hoops showdown between four distinguished programs in the college basketball landscape.
