Travis Kelce says Greg Olsen was done 'dirty' by Fox for Tom Brady
Travis Kelce is showing support for Greg Olsen for being replaced by Tom Brady on the top broadcast team on Fox. On the New Heights podcast, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end shared his thoughts on Brady making his broadcasting debut this fall.
“I love my guy Greg Olsen. They kinda did him dirty over there at Fox,” Travis said. “But I mean, it’s Tom Brady, what can you do? Sometimes you just gotta do your thing. And Greg does a f–king tremendous job.”
Olsen was part of the No. 1 broadcast team with Kevin Burkhardt for two seasons. But Fox landed a deal with Brady to become the lead NFL analyst on a 10-year, $375 million contract back in 2022. Kelce and Olsen have been good friends for years, and the two founded Tight End University with San Francisco 49ers star George Kittle.
“That’s my mother f–king dog,” he said, referring to Olsen, adding that Fox “got two great ones” in the former Carolina Panthers and Chicago Bears star and Brady. Kelce also said that Brady will be “fantastic because he’s f–king Tom Brady.”
Greg Olsen is an award-winning broadcaster
Olsen has earned praise for his work as a broadcaster, winning the Sports Emmy Award for Most Outstanding Personality/Emerging On-Air Talent last year. Before winning the award, Olsen talked about his thoughts on being replaced by Brady.
“He’s the greatest, I get it. I understand why they went after him, but I’m not going to roll over and die,” Olsen said in February 2023. “I’m willing to do what these guys aren’t willing to do. Until they kick me out, I’m gonna sit there and do it. Maybe he does come and take my job one day. I can live with that. I get it. I understand the rules that we all signed up for. I don’t ask for anybody’s sympathy. It’s been awesome.”
Brady joins the team after playing in the NFL from 2000 to 2023. This week, it was announced that Brady’s first game will be the Dallas Cowboys vs. Cleveland Browns in Week 1 of the NFL season.
“Obviously, having the Cowboys on is a huge draw,” Brady said at the Upfronts. “As America’s Team, that’s gonna get a little hard for me to say that all the time, understanding that they were the competition for a long time. But in this new role, I know how important the Cowboys are to this network.”
