This is the final boarding call for the Kentucky Men’s Tennis bandwagon. You should be seated already, but there is still room to get on board if you’re late to the station. We need everyone riding with the Wildcats at 2:30 p.m. today when No. 5 Kentucky (27-2) faces No. 4 TCU (25-4) in the Elite Eight of the 2024 NCAA D1 Men’s Tennis Championship.

This is newly-familiar territory for Cedric Kauffmann’s program; it is UK’s third consecutive Elite Eight appearance, but only the seventh in school history. These are unprecedented times, and as I said, you still have time to pay closer attention to what’s been brewing at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex on UK’s campus.

Let’s catch you up. After sweeping the SEC’s regular season and conference tournament, Kentucky hosted the first three NCAA rounds in Lexington. The Wildcats beat Depaul, Illinois, and No. 12 Harvard to reach the quarterfinals, part of a 20-match win streak dating back to January.

Today, they’re in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the final site of the NCAA Tennis Championship. Oklahoma State’s Greenwood Tennis Center will host the remaining rounds until a champion is crowned on Sunday, May 19. Ohio State, Texas, Virginia, Wake Forest, Tennessee and Columbia are also still alive.

A Rematch

Kentucky and TCU have had two significant recent encounters. Last year, they met in the semifinals of the 2023 ITA National Indoor Championships. TCU, the defending champion, won that meeting, 4-2, before repeating as indoor champs.

In the 2022 NCAA Tennis Championship, the Wildcats were the victors, upsetting the top-seeded Horned Frogs, 4-3, in the quarterfinals. Kentucky went on to reach the championship match for the first time ever, losing to Virginia.

How To Watch Kentucky vs. TCU

The NCAA Tennis Championship can be seen on ESPN+ beginning at 11:30 a.m. today. Click here for that feed. Cracked Racquets will also broadcast the action on the Cracked Racquets YouTube page. Again, Kentucky-TCU is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET.

Go Cats.
