Nobody saw this coming. Vince Marrow pulled off an absolute stunner. Michigan had an 89.5% chance in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) to secure a commitment from Marquise Davis. Every recruiting insider across multiple platforms picked Davis to play for the defending National Champs. This Wednesday on Kentucky Sports Radio, Davis announced his commitment to Kentucky.

Over the last week, there have been multiple articles written about Davis’ affinity for Michigan and his relationship with new running backs coach Tony Alford. He visited Ann Arbor multiple times over the last month. In between those visits, he was in Lexington. Davis made the trip from Cleveland on consecutive weekends, starting with the Blue-White Spring Game.

Davis fooled everyone. The four-star running back will be a Kentucky Wildcat.

Marquise Davis is the highest-ranked running back to ever commit to Kentucky. He’s the seventh-ranked running back in the country and No. 114 overall talent in the 2024 class, according to On3. In the On3 Industry Ranking, he’s ranked No. 183 overall, surpassing Boom Williams as the top-ranked running back addition of the Stoops era.

Michigan wasn’t the only school involved in this talented runner’s recruitment. Ohio State, Penn State, and USC were included in his list of finalists. Davis had official visits scheduled to Missouri and Tennessee. He’s expected to officially visit Kentucky in June.

“The way they use their running backs in all aspects, it’s just like the NFL,” Davis said after an unofficial visit to Lexington last month.

Davis is the sixth addition to the 2025 Kentucky football recruiting class. He’s one of two four-star talents, joining another Ohio native, WR Quintin Simmons. Four of the six commitments are from the state of Ohio.

Last season Davis put up outstanding numbers at Cleveland Heights High School. He rushed for 2,228 yards and 35 touchdowns and he also had 63 tackles, five stops for loss, and three interceptions.
