Kentucky needed to get to it on the recruiting trail after losing their entire roster and has as of late with three commitments over the past three days. Still, there’s several spots left to fill with at least one seemingly available for Dayton’s Koby Brea.

CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander provided an update on the Wildcats’ efforts following the commitment of Wake Forest’s Andrew Carr on Sunday evening. He noted that the program would now be turning their attention to their visit with Utah State’s Great Osobor before going out to visit Brea on Tuesday.

“UK meeting with Great Osobor (Utah State) this weekend, will visit with Koby Brea (Dayton) Tuesday,” wrote Norlander on Twitter.

Brea is the No. 72 transfer and No. 8 CG in the portal per On3’s 2024 Transfer Portal Top Players. That comes after a career year with the Flyers as a junior where he posted 11.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while shooting an incredibly efficient 51.2% from the field and 49.8% from three on three makes from distance per game.

The latest on Brea wouldn’t have suggested positive news for some of his options, including Kentucky. On Friday, he shared that he would be taking visits to only UConn and Duke. That would lead one to believe Kentucky as well as Kansas and North Carolina were further back in the race. Now, the Wildcats could be back in the hunt with this news that they’ll get to make a pitch.

Again, following the departure of John Calipari to Arkansas, Kentucky had their work cut out for them. They lost the entire roster to the draft or portal along with all but one of their freshmen to decommitments. Over the past few days, though, Mark Pope and his new staff have made things happen.

San Diego State’s Lamont Butler committed to the Wildcats on Friday. Then, on Saturday, Oklahoma’s Otega Oweh pledged himself to the blue and white next. Carr then made it three in three days for the Wildcats with his announcement to end the weekend. Along with Drexel’s Amari Williams, that gives Kentucky a total of four transfers. Two of those are in the Top-100 of On3’s Portal Ranking in Williams and Oweh.

Add in a pair of freshmen guards in Travis Perry, a four-star prospect that’s the state’s all-time leading scorer, and Collin Chandler, a four-star from two cycles ago that Pope brought with him from BYU, and the Wildcats are up to six players for next season.

Kentucky has cast a wide net in order to rebuild the program in the image of Pope. That could soon include other players like Brea, Osobor, or others with plans like these set to start this week.
