Following another day of eventful softball action at the ACC Tournament, the championship game is set. No. 1 seed Duke will face No. 2 seed Florida State on Saturday afternoon after both teams earned hard-fought wins on Friday in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament.

Duke rallied to survive against No. 5 seed Clemson, eventually beating the Tigers 4-3 in 10 innings.

Amiah Burgess scored the winning run from second for the Blue Devils on an infield single by Francesca Frelick, just beating the tag from Clemson catcher Aby Vieira.

Burgess was originally called out, but the call was overturned after the replay review, ending the game.

Burgess said after the game that she was determined to score and send the Blue Devils to the ACC Softball Tournament Championship.

“I wasn’t stopping. I wasn’t stopping,” Burgess said. “I did see her catch the ball. I did know that the ball did beat me. But I knew if I threw my body at [home plate] – I didn’t even feel her tag me, so as soon as they said out, I said, ‘Nah uh, you’ve gotta review that.’

“I’ve never slid that hard, like I’ve never thrown my body that hard in my life, but I’ve been diving in the outfield all day. It was pretty similar.”

The walk-off win was the second in as many days for the Blue Devils, who beat Boston College on a walk-off homer by Aminah Vega on Friday.

On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 seed Florida State advanced to the ACC Tournament title game thanks to a victory over No. 6 seed Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a quick lead on the Seminoles but then Florida State erupted and ended the game in the fifth inning thanks to the college softball run rule.
