Former Washington running back Dillon Johnson has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Tennessee Titans, per Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.

Johnson started his career at Mississippi State, playing three seasons for the Bulldogs. He played his final season with the Huskies in 2023.

Johnson set career highs while with Washington last fall. He finished the year with1,195 yards and 16 touchdowns on 5.1 yards per carry, to go along with 24 catches and 190 receiving yards.

Over the course of his career, Johnson rushed for 2,393 yards and 27 touchdowns on 5.2 yards per carry. He added 173 catches for 1,054 receiving yards and one touchdown reception.

As a member of the Class of 2020, Johnson was a three-star recruit out of Greenville (Miss.) St. Joseph, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 10 overall prospect in the state, the No. 41 running back in the class and the No. 420 overall prospect in the class.

He joins a backfield led by the newly signed Tony Pollard and 2023 third round pick Tyjae Spears.

What draft analysts are saying about Dillon Johnson

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com took a look at the tape and evaluated Johnson’s game as he transitions to the pros. He was projected to be a 7th round pick.

“Well-built, rugged runner who relies on vision and physicality to move the chains,” Zierlein wrote. “Johnson wears down defenses with contact balance and provides quality short-yardage value. His burst and short-area quickness fall below average for the NFL level, so he’s unlikely to be an elusive inside runner or be able to stretch run games from sideline to sideline.

“Johnson has proven he can handle a heavier workload but is more likely to project as a grinder who can take on backup reps, short-yardage carries and third-down snaps.
