Utah State transfer RB Davon Booth commits to Mississippi State
Former Utah State running back Davon Booth will be playing in the SEC in 2024, as he announced his commitment to Mississippi State out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. Booth will have at least one year of eligibility remaining.
In one season at Utah State, Booth was an effective runner, taking 120 carries for 805 yards across 12 games. He scored six rushing touchdowns. And he was functional as a receiver, catching a dozen passes for 50 yards.
Booth was unrated as a prospect in the 2020 class, and began his college career going the junior college route at Cerritos College.

Mississippi State recently lost a high-profile running back commitment
Less than two weeks after Rashad Amos committed to Mississippi State, he flipped his decision to Colorado on April 26.
The running back spent 48 hours in Boulder earlier this week and has now committed to Colorado. It’s a major pickup for Deion Sanders and the Buffs, who lost Dylan Edwards to the transfer portal earlier this week. Now Amos can partner with Ohio State transfer Dallan Hayden to form one of the top backfields in the Big 12.
A former South Carolina transfer, Amos played in 13 games with the Gamecocks but had a breakout year in 2023 with the Miami (Ohio). He rushed for 1,075 yards and 13 touchdowns this past season. The tailback ranked third in the Mid-American Conference in rushing yards and second in rushing touchdowns.
The Miami (Ohio) transfer has played in 27 career games and has previous experience in the SEC. Miami, Ole Miss, UCF, Utah and Virginia were other programs in the mix before his commitment to the Bulldogs. With the NCAA allowing multi-time transfers to play immediately next season without securing a waiver, the running back was able to hit college football’s free agency this offseason.
Amos was the No. 2 available running back currently in the portal, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Portal Rankings, prior to his Mississippi State commitment. The third-team All-MAC selection filled a position of need for the Bulldogs and he now does the same for the Buffaloes.
A former three-star recruit, Amos rushed for over 100 yards in four games in 2023. He had a career-high 180 rushing yards on 33 carries against Appalachian State in the Cure Bowl. During his time with the Gamecocks, he totaled 106 yards rushing on 20 carries. Rashad Amos also rushed for two touchdowns in the MAC championship game, defeating Toledo.
