Travis Smith Details Recruiting Process With On3 National Recruiting Expert Chad Simmons

Earlier this month, Travis Smith narrowed his list down to eight schools. Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Oklahoma and Tennessee made the cut. He is set to visit five of those in the coming months.

Alabama will get the No. 74 overall prospect and No. 8 wide receiver in the 2025 On300 on campus first. He will be in Tuscaloosa on March 8. Smith will be back in Alabama on March 23 visiting Auburn. To close out next month, Georgia Tech will host the local talent on March 30.

In April, the playmaker out of Atlanta Westlake will visit Tennessee on the 6th and Georgia on the 13th.

Smith is about relationships. Those played a big factor in who made his list of favorites. He has not ruled anyone out completely yet though. He is in talks with Clemson and Florida State about these visits. The Seminoles didn’t make the cut and the Tigers have yet to offer.

Each spring visits is important though as the four-star wide receiver works to finalize who will take official visits to over the summer. He knows what is most important to him.

“All in all, it will about where I see myself developing and being successful,” Smith told On3 in an interview earlier this month. “That’s really the biggest thing. I want to develop myself and develop my skills to eventually be able to go to the highest level.”

Smith is aiming to commit to a school in late June or early in July.

Smith breaks down his top eight schools

Alabama: “Bama is Bama. (Wide receivers) coach (JaMarcus) Shephard, he’s done a great job communicating with me. He shows me how much of a priority I would be if they can get me.”

Auburn: “(Offensive coordinator/running backs) coach (Derrick) Nix, (head) coach (Hugh) Freeze and (wide receivers) coach (Marcus) Davis, they’ve been on me as well. Coach Freeze is the guy that ultimately produced D.K. Metcalf and A.J. Brown. With me knowing that, how could I not look at them as a great target for me to be successful with?”

Colorado: “They’re different. The style that they play with and the style that they carry themselves with, we’ve never seen it in college football. With that being different, I could see myself being at the school.”

Georgia: “They win. That’s really the main takeaway. I want to win. Obviously, I want to get on the field, but getting on the field and winning at the same time, that’s a huge deal.”

Georgia Tech: “The anchor with Georgia Tech is Eric Singleton (Jr.), but also (wide receivers) coach (Josh) Crawford. Eric was an All-American there as a freshman. With him being a freshman at the receiver position producing those numbers, that caught my attention.”

Ole Miss: “The guy that I look at that’s there currently is Tre Harris. His game, that’s everything I’m trying to do.”

Oklahoma: “I know about Oklahoma. The receivers coach there (Emmett Jones), he came in once or twice. He was talking with me and is trying to get me there in the spring.”

Tennessee: “That’s the offense I believe I’d gel into the easiest. (Wide receivers) coach (Kelsey) Pope and (head) coach (Josh) Heupel, they’ve been on me a lot ever since last year. They’ve really shown me a lot of comm
