Spring Transfer Portal Update: Wednesday, April 17, 2024

Vito Tisdale is one of the biggest characters of the Mark Stoops era. The Bowling Green native is once again on the move as the end of his college career draws near.

On3 learned on Wednesday that the former Kentucky defensive back has re-entered the transfer portal after one season at Colorado. Tisdale dealt with injuries in 2023, limiting him to only three games for Deion Sanders’ squad. With the COVID-19 waiver, he has up to two years of eligibility remaining.

Tisdale was a fan favorite for a variety of reasons during his time at Kentucky.

First and foremost, Vito was an absolute wrecking ball. If his number was called to blitz from the nickel, he completely disregarded his own personal health and safety to launch his body at the opponent. In one instance, he suffered a shoulder injury after leveling somebody behind the line of scrimmage.

Tisdale brought unique connections to the University of Kentucky. He was a four-star talent for the Bowling Green Purples. During the All-American Bowl he announced his commitment to Kentucky as his father, “Big V” of the hip-hop group Nappy Roots, danced in celebration beside him.

Tisdale was also a trash-talker and that might be putting it lightly. I’m not sure there’s ever been a player who enjoyed throwing Ls Down more than Vito Tisdale.

In two years at Kentucky, Tisdale logged 39 tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss. He spent his last season in Lexington on the sideline. The defensive back suffered a torn ACL during spring practice, forcing him to miss the entire 2022 season.

Vito was one of two players who transferred to Colorado last offseason, joined by RB Kavosiey Smoke who also spent most of the year on the sideline. Two more Kentucky football players transferred to Coach Prime’s program this offseason, Destin and Keaten Wade.

Vito Tisdale is an explosive player with a big personality who has struggled to stay healthy. Hopefully, he can bring some joy to one more college football fanbase in the twilight years of his career.
