Class of 2025 running back Jace Clarizio won’t have to travel far for college. The East Lansing native announced his decision to commit to Michigan State via social media on Tuesday. Michigan State running backs coach Keith Bhonapha offered Clarizio (6-0, 195) back in January.

Michigan State has been selective with their running back offers this cycle. Clarizio was one of only a few running backs to receive an offer from Bhonapha, who landed two running backs in the 2024 class. With Clarizio now in the fold, the Spartan staff can now be even more selective, should they choose to add another running back to their 2025 class.

Clarizio made a handful of visits to Michigan State this spring, and he will return to campus for an official visit on June 14. Clarizio’s recruitment blew up after he logged 1,335 yards and 18 touchdowns in eight games during his junior season in 2023.

The running back entered his junior season with just one offer, from Central Michigan. Michigan State’s previous staff became the second school to offer Clarizio, followed by Iowa State, Louisville and Toledo during his junior season.

Clarizio has since picked up offers from Wisconsin, USC, Iowa, Indiana, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Minnesota and Kansas, among others. Clarizio will no longer take his previously-scheduled official visits to Minnesota and Wisconsin.

A three-star recruit out of East Lansing High School, Clarizio is the No. 662 prospect in the 2025 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the No. 54 running back and the No. 11 recruit from Michigan in his class.

On3 has Clarizio ranked slightly higher than the industry average. According to On3, Clarizio is the No. 30 running back the No. 6 recruit from Michigan in his class. Clarizio is Michigan State’s highest-rated 2025 commit, just on the border of four-star status, per On3.

Clarizio becomes Michigan State’s fifth 2025 commitment, and its third in the last three days. He joins three-star Wisconsin tight end Emmett Bork, who committed on Monday, and three-star in-state linebacker DiMari Malone, who committed on Sunday.

Michigan State also holds commitments from three-star California quarterback Leo Hannan and three-star in-state linebacker Charles White.
