Personal Life
When he was 7-year-old, Amarius Mims promised his mother that he would buy her a house someday. After a standout career at Georgia – where he became part of a line that ranked first in the SEC and seventh nationally in sacks allowed – and at Bleckley County High School, it looks like Mims will fulfill the promise. “I am not doing this for me," Mims said. "I play football because I told myself I want to make sure my mom and my dad are taken care of.” Bleckley County coach Ryan McKenzie said Mims drive to help his family is what makes him special. “He wants to change the lives of everyone in his family," McKenzie said. "He says he wants his talents to open up the whole world for them and take care of them. I know he'll do it. He's achieved so much already and what he did at UGA was just the beginning.”
