Oh good. Less oversight and more focus on money. What could go wrong? Maybe the NCAA could just admit that they have zero control over this and it is completely off the rails.

The NCAA proposed deleting 153 rules from its handbook, a move that will allow schools to share financial benefits directly with players.
This is fine but the issue is going to be the oversight and enforcement farce that will have zero teeth. They need to collectively bargain and make contracts enforceable.
Yeah, was always going to be a part of the new normal post settlement. But, someone who opts out will still sue - just watch.

“NCAA leaders are aiming to reshape the organization's role and are poised to effectuate sweeping changes by July 1 if the settlement is approved. Schools have until June 15 to decide whether to opt to provide benefits that would be permissible under the settlement for the coming academic year.”
I am guessing that Penn State will opt out of providing these benefits, instead continuing to focus on textbooks and ice cream.

Doesn’t seem like it will be too many years until my fall Saturdays will be Mrs. OhioLion and me taking weekend trips that don’t include D-1 football.
