This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Big Lebowski. I’m planning to watch it in the theater with a couple buddies, since I didn’t catch it when it was first released. Must have seen it a dozen times at least though. Watch it whenever it’s on, plus I own the DVD. Anyone else planning to watch it in the theater this year?

My son and wife honeymooned recently in Iceland and they have a Lebowski Bar in Reykjavik. Many derivatives of White Russians!

Are we still allowed to call it a White Russian? Maybe Dirty Russian.

It only gets 4⭐️‘s on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB.

I’ve never seen it before. Why should I watch this? 🤷🏼‍♂️

I was going to make the same post. For Jo particular reason, I’ve never seen the movie. What makes it such a classic? People seem to love it.

For one thing, it’s unique, there’s nothing like it. Porn stars, mistaken identities, nihilists, ferrets, bowling, Smoky going over the line.

John Goodman is worth the price of admission.

Will likely fill in a lot of some of your pop culture reference blind spots. It has a tremendous cast. It’s kind of about nothing save some guys who seem to have almost nothing in common bullsh*t, drink, and go bowling.

It’s an odd and quirky movie like many of the brothers other films . I didn’t “get it” the first couple times. But it is now one of my all time favorites . See if you like any of the other Coen brother flicks . I would bet a toe that it’s not a movie BW would like .
Lebowski , The Dude , is a lazy anti-hero. I’m playing my best golf when I get into The Dude mode and just do nothing . Just let it happen.

Not to go completely off point but I can’t understand the persistent underrating of True Grit, Burn After Reading, and, especially, Miller’s Crossing. Blood Simple is often overrated, in my estimation.

Here is the window of time it is in theaters.......The cult classic film from Joel and Ethan Coen will return to the big screen for a limited time only on April 16th and April 20th (naturally).
This is what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps ! And other useless trivia.....

Some of the best films ever made did squat at the box office, this is another one that became a cult classic.
Cohen Bro’s writing/directing, incredible cast, wild weaving and intertwined storylines, amazing soundtrack…I could go on, just give it a whirl

I’m not much a movie guy in general but I’ve got Soring Break coming up next week so maybe I’ll give it a shot. Thanks.

Like you, I had seen a ton of snippets of this movie, but had never watched it all the way through, so I decided last night (after a couple of cocktails) to pour myself a White Russian and watch the whole thing.

I gotta say that, although the movie features an all star case and has a few funny moments, there is no discerible plot, and it dragged on for what seemed like forever. I abstained from turning it off because I had vowed to myself to watch the whole thing.

My conclusion: it reminded me of The Blair Witch Project: a movie with a ton of buzz, but which ultimately turned out to suck ballz. I would have rather watched a You Tube special on Tara Reid's botched boob job. (Tara was one of the actors in this movie, and she got off one of the better lines: "I'll suck your c##k for $1,000."))

its not a movie that aims to answer life’s mysteries or biograph an important point in history. It’s full of funny scenes and is entertaining.

As the Stranger says in his monologue at the end of the movie:
I don't know about you, but I take comfort in that. It's good knowin' he's out there. The Dude. Takin' 'er easy for all us sinners. Shoot. I sure hope he makes the finals. Well, that about does her, wraps her all up. Things seem to have worked out pretty good for the Dude and Walter, and it was a pretty good story, don't ya think? Made me laugh to beat the band. Parts, anyway. I didn't like seein' Donny go. But then, I happen to know that there's a little Lebowski on the way. I guess that's the way the whole darned human comedy keeps perpetuatin' itself, down through the generations, westward the wagons, across the sands of time until we-- aw, look at me, I'm ramblin' again. Well, I hope you folks enjoyed yourselves. Catch ya later on down the trail.

...Say friend, ya got any more of that good sarsaparilla?
