tv is going bad or USC hasn't paid the power bill. The flickering lights look like the inside of a strip club.

Maybe the athletic dept. could have spent some of that money on recruiting.

Hopefully none of this foolishness of loud noise and blinking lights will spill over into baseball.

It has been 45 years since I was inside a strip club. So, I can't remember in order to compare.

I can't comment on the lights, but anybody watching last night's broadcast had to think the production quality was well beneath ESPN's usual quality. Sometimes, I could barely hear the announcers and other times, it sounded like the guy was screaming from the other end of my couch.

The ESPNU broadcast quality was as poor as I've ever seen. From poor video quality, uneven sound, the crowd noise seemed muffled all night, missing game action due to poorly timed commercial breaks, long winded segments, etc...

As far as the lights, they are cool and definitely add to the atmosphere. Everyone that I have talked to that has personally been to the night games have enjoyed the lights.

Charlotte fans definitely seemed impressed:

Went to the game last night. Sorry for writing a book. Could write MUCH more. Charlotte crowd was pretty solid. Last night was all about perspective for me. We are not in the same stratosphere as South Carolina and I am not talking about football on the field. We went inside their indoor practice facility before the game. My jaw dropped. I am going to use the word amazing a lot here. It was amazing. I mean massive and NICE. I thought about where we practice compared to that and just laughed.

The tailgate atmosphere was massive, welcoming (for the most part) and respectful. We HAVE to use our open space better for tailgating. The area around the Hayes is wasted by us. The build up walking into the stadium was so energizing. Wall to wall tailgates for miles. I know they have a different set up around the stadium than us BUT there are easy improvements we can make.

The stadium and atmosphere was again amazing. I have not ever seen anything quite like it. I am sure there are schools that do it better but I haven’t seen it. I have gone to many away games including Tennessee, Marshall, APP and Clemson and I thought South Carolina blew them out of the water. I felt like I was at a concert, Vegas show and football game all in one.

Absolutely agree with the culture part. I know the team and AD needs to step up their game. We need to use our campus better and we need to win. With that said our fan base needs to step up too. We had a great time.

The stadium expansion will be huge. Just the environment and show were exceptional! We need green lights.

We can only hope to have a game-day atmosphere 25% of what I saw in SC. RV’s that rivaled the Madden Cruiser and even though I was wearing green, everyone I visited, was offered a pop or something nosh on. Good people in the stands as well. Even got invited to a Cockaboose for more southern hospitality, that we could not decline. Didn’t get egged once. That’s a plus. As for the game, it was a nice half but I don’t think we covered and I hope everyone took the over.

How do you know know they actually accomplished the latter. What you like and what 18 year olds like isn’t exactly the same.

I like the LED system. I understand that someone’s 45 year old aunt Karen may not, and that’s ok. Im way more concerned with the poor performance of the football team. We have SC State next week, then it’s back to playing teams with a pulse again.

Maybe if we can start winning again in a consistent manner, we won't have to name-call our fellow fans who have different in-stadium preferences than we do. One fan's experience isn't worth more or less than another's. Winning tends to solve all problems, whether it's lights and sounds or uniform colors. Losing, on the other hand, creates a stench that can't be covered by any amount of smoke and mirrors.
