ESPN website suggests Venables has considered redshirting Arnold with only four games played so far this year.
If Casey Thompson is up and running that may be possible…..and if Arnold is in agreement.

Yeah no brainer in my opinion, if true. Arnold will be high on the transfer portal list next year. These are the days of our lives with NIL/transfer portal/free agency.

Agree. If he redshirts he might as well just spell the beans and snnounce he will be rntering the portal at years end and be done with it.

Some person on another board I read occasionally stated he had inside sources ( doesn’t everyone say that) saying Oregon was his likely designation. Heck who knows if true or not.

Amazing how many people and a few here wanted to bench DG last season so JA could be the starter. Good thing those that did are not calling the ***** but what we have now isn't much better.
Good luck to him if he leaves, I don't blame him. Whatever OU promised him we didn't deliver.
My guess is Oregon, Ole Miss or some other school with an offenive guru calling the plays. I would say Miss St but Lebby recruuting him and the leaving may have left a bad taste in his mouth after whats happened this yr but his stock is pretty low right now. Who would take him other than a project to be a future starter?
Wherever he ends up I won't be surprised if he sets the world on fire. Tawee Walker is doing pretty good at Whisky and DG at Oregon. Tawee wasn't worthy of a scholarship at OU but he probably has more rushing yds and td's than all our backs combined. Not only are we not evaluating players very well we are not developing them either.
Will add if JA does leave he will be one of many I bet. Recruits will likely flip too. This overpaid staff needs to find answers yesterday.
Meh. It is what it is.

To your point, Tawee's game last weekend:

The Badgers, meanwhile, cracked 500 total yards for the second straight week with 545 total yards and got a career day from Tawee Walker (24 carries, 198 yards, three touchdowns).

Good for Tawee. I'm pretty sure most people on this board saw him as our best back last year. Not sure why the coaches couldn't see it.

I think Arnold is going to get a lot more playing time this season unless things get much better quickly. Odds are he won’t redshirt, IMO.

Let’s give the ball to Casey first (if Hawkins doesn’t work well Saturday)

According to Venables OU has a Small Army to Coach QB's.
If so then why are the QB's struggling?

Brent Venables Says Oklahoma Has 'a Small Army' to Coach Quarterbacks

67, the offensive line may be a reason or THE reason why the QBs are struggling.
Also, the backup wide receivers are not getting open very well.
Why are so many not seeing this?

Venables himself has said the blocking is there and receivers are open.

Yep, the coaching staff wasn't ready for this year, so it's only fair to save the year for Arnold.
What an indictment on the coaching staff. True though. A junior high coach could have gotten the same results that we’re getting from this offense.

I think Hoover among many have said guys were open and its as if the Coaches won't let either QB throw the ball deep. Hoover said something about Hawkins throwing the ball away on 4th down late in the texass game. As he said why not try to attempt a pass downfield instead of throwing it away, texass is getting the ball anyway.
Personally I think the Coaches have tied both qb's hands by not letting them just play for fear of turning the ball over. Sometimes you have to take chances.
Heard someone say yesterday that if OU had pulled 5 WR's from the crowd during the RRS game that OU would have scored 0 instead of 3.

We all see it but the QB play doesn’t get a pass either. JA wasnt sharp against Temple and he was almost non existant vs Houston. No one gets a pass on offense this season. It has been pretty pathetic all season.

Arnold certainly hasn’t been what we expected and I think it was evident in the bowl loss to Arizona.
When you factor in his flaws and combine it with a poor offensive line and backup receivers, you have a “perfect storm” for failure.
Indeed, no one should get a pass on this offensive meltdown.

Haven’t read or heard Venables say that.
He did say that. Guess he thinks Hawkins is holding onto the ball too long and running too early. Having no Oline kinda does that to ya I guess

No redshirt now. But will he enter the portal? Hiring a good OC and QB Coach might keep him here but I kinda think he gone at Seasons end. I mean why would he stay?
