I know we can't take them all. I was just wondering if we had any interest in the Iowa State RS freshman running back. He sure was impressive against the Longhorns...

Nope... He was pretty good too, but I think he took his ACT late and no big schools gave him a look but Iowa State.

I don't have a link, but if Mixon would have not been signed, Warren was the next in line. I think Stoops might have mentioned that in his press conference........

The guy is good. Tapper and company, be ready..............

Stoops said on his show last night that they, "looked at Warren," but that was all he said about his recruitment. I was not aware of this, but Bob said he's the conference's leading rusher. With a new QB, new OC and coming off a shutout win over texass, the Clones will be sky high by the time they get to Norman.

I think you are mistaken. We would have tried to recruit Warren if Mixon had not verbaled. But once we got Mixon we didn't we recruit him. Stoops went on to say who knows if Warren would have even come to Norman had we not gotten Mixon.

But we would have recruited him.

An article on another board quoted Stoops as saying Warren was the next guy on their list if Mixon had chosen UCLA at the Army All-Star game.
Warren is from Hawaii and ended up in Lawton since his parents were in the military.

So the answer is no right, OU did not recruit him? Sure there may have been some interest from Norman, but it wasn't a ton or the local media would have been all over it like they were with Patterson, Barnett and Ward. Don't forget OU signed a guy named Perine at RB as well with Joe. I don't think Mike took his ACT until he was a senior so that didn't help with anyone. Toledo was in constant contact and the coach that recruited him went to ISU and offered him from there. Washington State and Southern Miss were in the mix as well, and I remember Coach Breeze on the news here saying Tulsa was interested in Mike. Did you guys know that Mike was a pretty savvy DE as well?

Again, the point was OU had every intention of recruiting him had Mixon NOT verbaled. So your assertion that OU didn't recruit him because he was supposedly late in taking his ACT is incorrect. Again, Stoops said we would have recruited Warren if we didn't get Mixon.

Stoops then went on to say that there was no guarantee we would have gotten him anyway.

And again, the question was did OU recruit him or not and the answer is NO. Not would they have if they hadn't gotten Samaje, Dmitri Flowers and Joe Mixon. I didn't say schools didn't recruit him because of his ACT, but schools won't bother if you're not qualified and I'm about 80% sure he didn't have his ACT scores in check until he was a SR. Washington State, Southern Miss, New Mexico and Tulsa were the only D1 schools showing major interest. You guys are acting like he was a 5 star with offers from all of the $EC and us and we could have had him if we tried but chose Mixon instead. He was a damn good player here, but since I actually live here in Lawton, I see this sort of thing all the time. Colleges come through town once or twice a week looking for the next Jammal Brown or Antonio Perkins but they find more busts than not.

With his speed why not recruit Warren as a RB and tell him that if he doesn’t work out as an RB, he would be moved?

I wish we did more of this… more with the in state kids

Stoops has a pretty good track record of moving guys to fill an immediate need, which allowed the player to get more playing time had they not moved. Seems like he hasn't done it too much lately, but in years past I can remember quite a few guys moving to new positions and being successful.
